About
I'm Devin Ferrell, a computer science student at Old Dominion University (class of 2028) and a U.S. Air Force veteran in Virginia Beach. I build small tools that have to be right, like benefits calculations, office references and study material, and I write down why.
Where the habits come from
I spent nine years in the Air Force keeping ground equipment ready for F-16 flight operations. When equipment like that is wrong, you find out at the worst possible moment, so you check it before anyone else has to. Software is the direction now, and the habit came with me.
How I work
- Primary sources over summaries. If a number comes from a regulation, the page cites the regulation.
- Tests that fail before they pass. My sites ship with automated accessibility, speed and end-to-end checks that block a release when they fail.
- Independent review, and I act on it. When a review failed my VA Chapter 31 worksheet, I took it offline.
- AI as a tool, checked like any other. I build with AI assistants every day, and I build the checks that catch their mistakes.
What's next
Learning to build AI automation and agents that are tested like the rest of my work. I'll write about it in Notes as I go.
